Old Walls

by sarahartonsherkin

What is left over that can tell us something about a place? What residue and marks convey its secrets? In this small shack on the northern shore of Sherkin Island, the old walls reveal the many pebbles and stones that make up their materiality, the nearby beach being abundant in natural resources for building. I wonder about the life that took place here, and over a cup of tea, learn that this little shelter was once used to cook meals in for those working on a site nearby.
